An Indian Tea Party
It is the simplest and the most elegant of all the menus for a short tea and snack get togather. I had invited a few friends today for a Chai-Time. It involved having kids also. Honestly, I did some research for what would be the best suitable pairing with Indian Tea or Masala Chai. I could find pairings with the "English Tea", but not Chai. Also, there isnt much written or focused literature about the Indian afternoon teatime pairing. Why? I thought of going back to the basics, and favour the most precious food item the English left back in India...Sandwiches!!!
I turned up the volume with some Maharashtrian style coriander-coconut chutney, our very own "Amul" Butter and English Cucumber. I also made some super easy Chocolate Scones, and Indian Tea (with ginger and cardamom). A dear friend of mine brought in some Pasta too for the kids. It was amazing since she had a added in a generous amount of Oregano to it. Our little ones devoured it! All in all, a great tea party to remember with simple and comforting snack and Chai. I think I am getting back to my old mantra "Simpler the Better"!!!!
Tea Time Menu
Cucumber Sandwiches
Chocolate Chip Scones
Indian Masala Chai
Penne Pasta and Juice for kids
Happy Eating!!!
