33 Years of Blissful Busy Life

Date: Aug 22 2011. A boring Monday!

6:55am : Woke up to takeout my husband's lunch box from the refrigerator and hand him over;)

9am: Woke up once again. Our lil champ is up to.

9.30 am We are still in bed playing and chit chatting

9.45 am Brushing and cleaning finally

10 am Breakfast, for me just tea and cereals for my son, while watching some video clips of our past weekend outings (our son's favorite past time)

10:30 am received some phone calls for birthday wishes.

11 am Off to our local Farmer's Market with lil champ.

12:15 pm Lunch of cracked wheat khichdi with pickle and yogurt

12:30 pm some more India calls

2:00 pm Reading and of course 'Facebook' time

3:00 pm Back to the Grocery Store for a cake mix and some dairy products

4:00 pm Lil champ down for a late nap after I meltdown (my mercury levels were soaring and I dumped his leftover M&M pouch in the garbage. Long story cut short) .

4:10 pm started my bday cake baking process from the readymade Betty Crocker cake mix (I do take storebought help when in hurry). However, I did buy a can of chopped pineapples and fresh cream for frosting.

4:30 pm started making Mutter Paneer, a quick and easy recipe. Did not take long since I had the prep ready in the refrigerator (eg Ginger Garlic Paste, tomato paste, sour cream). Sorry, no pics - no time on hand

6 pm: Whipping cream for frosting

6:10 pm my toddler wakes up and voila, he wants the cake as is ie. without any frosting or decorations. He has a meltdown there. He settles down with a cup of Del-Monte's cut fruit cup. Happy with the Tropical fruits in fruit juice (yes, I was extra cautious in not buying anything in heavy sugar syrup).

6:30 I go back to the cake frosting. Somehow I manage to put things togather, however, the cake is super moist and hence starts breaking on the top. No, no, no problem! I am not disappointed either. Its birthday time, remember??? Cake, pineapple, fresh cream...how much really can go wrong.

Sharp 7pm: my husband's home. My son is back with the cake story and his small snack plate. Finally I start plating the cake. All souls are calm and soothing!

My husband has a complaint: This cake tastes store bought and too professional, it does not give that homemade feel . The breakage is alright. (our toddler's bday cake from La Bonbonniere  was in a cracking mode too after sometime due to the humid weather, the taste is important here.) So, his birthday next month we bake something from scratch!

7:25pm: I am back in the kitchen to make veg pulao. Again, something I can make in a jiffy.

8pm: We finally settle down for dinner.
In the dinner plate: Pineapple cake with fresh cream frosting, Mutter Paneer, Whole Wheat Pitas, Salad and Veg Pulao.

10:30 pm Back to bed.

Happy Birthday to me!!!
